Exhibition opening OURS by Karin Schmuck

Programma

In OURs, artist Karin Schmuck presents works from her 2025 residency at the Ermitage in Clervaux, complemented by the installation IN THE MIDST in the castle passageway.

At the heart of her work lies her exploration of borders: in her photographic works, she examines the tension between political boundaries and fluid landscapes, revealing their relativity.

In Clervaux she followed the Our Valley from the border triangle to Wallendorf. The region combines nature, history and the present, and inspired her particularly through the Our as a jointly managed border river, as well as the significance of the word ‘our’.

In series such as OUR RIVER, OUR WOODS and OUR HEAVEN, Schmuck superimposes photographs to create new, ethereal visual spaces. The installation is complemented by OUR VOICES – audio contributions from residents who recount personal stories that bridge individual experience and the collective “we”.
