Great, it's raining in Clervaux!

A day in the rain in Clervaux

While the rain may cool some of us down, children often find it fun to go out in gloomy weather. No problem, in Clervaux you will have the opportunity to combine the two, although boots and umbrellas are still essential. What to do when it rains during your stay in Clervaux? Or in the entire Eislek part ? The answer in a one-day programme!

Morning: The model museum and an artistic walk

This morning, you open the curtains of the room and the weather slowly turns to rain... Nice! Prepare your children to face this so typical weather in the Ardennes and go to the Tourist Office for the first stop. What's the reason for this? Because, with foresight, they provide visitors with beautiful umbrellas* to visit the town while staying dry. Not bad, isn't it? Map in hand, a short tour of the town allows you, in a maximum of one hour, to go around Clervaux - Cité de l'Image. The Cité de l'Image is an artistic and photographic tour that takes you through the small corners of the town and through the gardens of the castle.

Don't wait to get dry with the first visit of the day: the model museum inside the castle. These are precisely replicas of the most beautiful Luxembourg castles. The exhibition includes 23 of the 76 castles still existing in the country (out of the 109 castles listed in the Middle Ages). The precision and beauty of the models will surely charm your children.

Now it's time to go back downtown for a quick bite to eat. We can only recommend the Beim Luss bakery and its tasting room, with their homemade soup that will warm you up !

*Umbrella Sharing. Clervaux - La Cité de l'Image provides umbrellas during your visit of the town and open-air photographic exhibitions. You can pick them up at various points in the town, such as the Tourist Office, and return them once your visit is over.

Afternoon: Re-learn the skills of yesteryear and have fun at the mini-farm or browse through the exhibition The Family of Man with the discovery book.

Located 5 minutes from Clervaux by car, the tourist center Robbesscheier is the ideal place for your children. This nature and craft discovery centre offers a range of more than 15 activities, many of which take place inside. You choose the activities "à la carte". In one afternoon, it is possible to do between 3 and 4 workshops. Our advice ? The home-made pastry workshop in the old traditional bakery, the one around bees and the creation of home-made candles, but also a workshop around wool and weaving and finish with a ride in a horse-drawn carriage. The more daring will go to meet farm animals and outdoor games.

Finally, don't forget to visit the toy museum in the attic of the inn.

Before leaving, the Robbesscheier's restaurant offers natural dishes cooked with local products and products from the estate's gardens. So don't leave on an empty stomach, it would be a pity!

If you prefer a more cultural outing, the photo exhibition The Family of Man is for you. With the discovery notebooks "The Family of Man for kids", children become active during the visit. Stories and activities will give them a different approach to the magnificent humanist photographs in Edward Steichen's exhibition.
